By hosting charity events and similar activities, we intend to raise funds and provide financial support to partner organizations in the fight against tuberculosis. Furthermore, we will enable friends and relatives to make charitable donations to our club and thus to our partner organizations. The selection of these partner organizations occurs annually, where individual members of the society present their preferred choice and the final partner organization is ratified. After choosing a partner organization, this organization is contacted and a partnership is worked out, which also includes an official request for transparency about the use of funds and results through the receipt of the funds. Donations will be collected during the year and are transferred at year-end to the partner organization.
Following the end of our collaboration with Operation ASHA, our main functionaries were searching for a new partner, with whom we could support other work in TB care and control. This new partner arrived during the first quarter of 2014, when we signed a new partnership agreement with an English trust. The trust is called The Global Health and Education Trust and has committed to make a grant in support of our project in Vietnam. Their support lasted from the beginning of our project until the Summer of 2015.
Otsuka SA is a Swiss subsidiary of the japanese manufacturer Otsuka Pharmaceutical Company. Aside from the production and sale of a wide portfolio of nutritional supplements, Otsuka ranks first in terms of private funding for TB research. Otsuka SA supported our project PROPER CARE from September 2014 until the end of 2015. Furthermore, Otsuka provided a small grant for the development and implementation of a mobile phone-based data collection app.
For 2016 we were able to form a partnership with the Global Public Health group of Janssen (pharmaceutical company of Johnson & Johnson), which will support our PROPER CARE activities in Go Vap district. Johnson & Johnson (J&J) is well known as one of the world’s largest corporations in pharmaceuticals and consumer healthcare goods.
